Why the remodels are the useful ones to study
A new build can be made to look like almost anything. A remodel cannot. It has to work around a footprint, a roof line and whatever is inside the walls, and every photograph here carries a decision that was forced by something that was already in the house.
That is also why several of these galleries include demolition and framing shots alongside the finished rooms. Seeing the room stripped back tells you more about the work than the finished photograph does.
