Custom Home Builders in Glencoe

A small lakefront village with ravines, mature trees and a lot of architectural history. In Glencoe, every project starts with what is already there.

Building among landmarks

Glencoe packs a lot of notable architecture into a small village, and properties with historic significance can draw preservation review before demolition or major exterior changes. Massing, materials and how a house sits on its street all get a close look.

Lots near the ravines and the Lake Michigan bluff add slope and setback rules, and the village is in Cook County, so larger projects can also fall under the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District's stormwater ordinance. We plan for those reviews as a scheduled phase, not something to push through at the end.

What if my house has historic significance?

Then demolition and major exterior changes can draw preservation review. It adds time, not impossibility. We confirm what applies to your property early and plan the schedule around it.

Can I build on a ravine or bluff lot?

Often, but slope and setback rules can reduce the buildable area considerably, and drainage needs extra care. We map those limits before you commit to a plan size.

Should I remodel or rebuild?

It depends on the structure, the mechanicals and what you want the house to become. We look at the house with you and price both paths honestly.

Can you work with the architect I already have?

Yes, and the earlier we join the better. Coming in before the drawings are final lets us flag the site and cost consequences while they are still cheap to change. We have worked alongside plenty of architects in the north suburbs and the relationship is straightforward.

Where Glencoe is

Cook County, on the North Shore. A longer drive than our Barrington-area work, but still a site visit, not a trip.
