Building and Remodeling in the Chicago Area
Sixteen years of custom homes and whole-house remodels across Chicago's Northwest, North and West suburbs, and in the city itself.
Where we work, and why the boundary matters
Our range runs from Barrington and the Lake County towns through the Northwest suburbs and down into DuPage, with work in the city as well. That is a deliberate boundary rather than a marketing radius. It is the distance our team can cover and still be on site regularly, which is the whole basis of how we operate.
City work is a genuinely different discipline from suburban work. Narrow lots with no side yard, party-wall conditions, alley access, a permit process run through the Department of Buildings and neighbours close enough that construction logistics become a negotiation. We take it on where the project is the right size, and we are straight about when it is not.

City lots and suburban lots are different problems
On a twenty-five-foot city lot everything is a logistics question: where material gets staged, how the concrete truck reaches the pour, what the party wall is actually made of, and how the work affects the building six feet away. In the suburbs the lot absorbs most of that. Pretending the two are the same is how city projects go wrong.
- Site access and staging planned before the schedule is committed
- Party-wall and shared-structure conditions investigated before demolition
- Permit path confirmed for the jurisdiction the property is actually in

Questions
Asked in Chicago
Something not answered here? Call (847) 380-8212 and ask us directly.
Which towns do you cover?
Barrington and the surrounding Lake County villages, the Northwest suburbs, much of DuPage and the city itself. The service areas page lists them. If your town is not on it, call anyway, because the list reflects where we have worked rather than a hard boundary.
Do you take projects in the city?
Yes, for work of a reasonable size. City projects carry logistics and permitting overheads that do not suit a small job. We will tell you quickly whether yours is a good fit for us.
Who actually runs the job?
A dedicated Skycrest project manager, with Dan visiting the home often. The team that quotes it runs it on site, and Skycrest is who you call when something is wrong. That is the reason for the geographic limit, and it is why we would rather turn work down than spread too thin.
